Denver Coffee

I came across the Mile High Buzz | Denver Coffee House Blog, writing about the coffee shops in Denver. All of them, apparently. Hence the name, I guess.

So I'm hearing about Common Grounds, and in the comments as well. Are they national? Is it a common name for local shops? Here's one in Idaho. (Warning, music.) I can't seem to find a national website... (Not this Christian blog with the same name.)

Who's here from Denver? Raise your hand.

I've not been to Common Grounds in McCall but we have an excellent local roaster in Boise (Dawson Taylor) and they're great political progressives and environmentalists to boot.

I don't think the 2 common grounds shops in Denver are affiliated w/any places outside of denver. Like a lot of coffeehouse names, I think they are shared by places all over.

Woohoo! The Common Grounds locations in Denver are run by my aunt and my cousins - one of my cousins has a roasting company near Denver too. I'm gonna tell them they've been blogged :)

Hey... Greetings from COMMON GROUNDS DENVER! I looked back at the reviews and photos posted... thanks! They're great.

One thing about Denver, we've had a coffee culture since before the beatnik days of Jack Kerouac (who wrote of his cool experiences in Denver!). As I grew up I dreamed of hanging out at the cool places around here, like Muddy Waters, Spirits Runway, and Paris on the Platte... Paris still survives but the others have closed... Muddy's actually burned down and never really picked up it's spirit in it's short-lived new location.

So, as I reached an age to really "experience" the coffee house world... there really weren't any anymore. So, we opened Common Ground in January of 1992. Great coffee in a great community! And the community responded with enthusiasm. We opened a second in Crestone, CO...center of UFO USA! and our third opened in LoDo Denver in 1999. Since then coffeehouses started popping up EVERYWHERE!

Anyway, thanks for noticing us.

Our local coffeehouse is called Uncommon Grounds (far western MA). Unfortunately, their coffee is, well, lousy. I'd just as soon go to the diner or just make it myself at home.

Oh... and Hi Cousin Pete! Thanks for bringing this blog to our attention. Lisa

What happened to Amy and the rest of the posse who used to work at Common Grounds Lodo?

So... I run the Denver Coffee website... found yet another Common Grounds... this one in Austin, TX. Looks like the name must be quite COMMON. ;-)
