Stumptown in Portland
Someone mentioned Stumptown Coffee Roasters in Portland, saying,
In Portland, we have a relatively new brand that's storming the market, and all the cool baristas go for it: Stumptown. Since Torrefazione died, it's the best in town.I worked in Portland for a while, near Powell's Books. I used to fly up from San Francisco or San Jose (depending on ticket price that week) on Tuesday mornings... In Porland there's a Thai restaurant named E-San that is the best Thai food I have ever had.
Note, when you mention a coffee shop in the comments, try to leave a URL if they have a website (as Jeff A. did), so people can look them up.
Update: - John left this comment in another post:
Jeff A: My brother's shop in Portland serves Stumptown coffee, and homemade pies too. Kids and Democratic and Green politicos are welcome:Bipartisan Cafe

In So. Cal. you might run across The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf chain, which is nice enough, though their mochas can have a preponderance of grainy syrup at the bottom now and again.

I'm really glad you put this blog together. I LOVE coffee-related sites and blogs. I'm a fellow addict and frequent our local Starbucks and indie-run Common Grounds. Am a former barista, myself.

Just moved to Lawton, OK and from what I know of Common Grounds, it recently opened as well. It's a very roomy cafe. On the wall is a big-screen plasma screen TV (usually tuned to Fox News - boo!) and a number of big, comfy chairs. As for the coffee, this particular store likes Seattle's Best. I'm kind of mixed about Seattle's Best and tend to go to Common Grounds more for the atmosphere. Still, the staff is mostly friendly and with the new Starbucks in town are even more eager to get people in the door. Fortunately, it's located next to Cameron University, so you get the student crowd. Nice!

Torrefazione in the Pearl was best.

The coffee served in a growing number of excellent coffee shops in Arizona is DarkStar espresso by Rocket Coffee Roasters

Ritual Roasters on Valencia in SF serves Stumptown coffee. It's the best coffee I've ever tasted. Their hot chocolate is similarly fantastic.
